Shingles
Shingles are sawn both sides, have a relatively smooth face and back and are produced in four grades and three lengths: No. 1 (Blue Label), No. 2 (Red Label), No. 3 (Blacklabel), and No. 4 or Undercoursing in lengths of 16 – inch(405mm) Fivex; 18-inch (455mm) Perfections; and24 -inch (610mm) Royals.
No. 1 Blue Label Shingles
The premium grade of shingles forrools and sidewallsThese top-grade shingles are 100%heartwood, 100% clearand 100% edge grain.
No. 1 Grooved Sidewall Shingles
The same specifications as rebutted-rejointed shingles except that theshingle face has been striated.Available in natural colour orlactory primed in white or grey.
No.2 Red Label Shingles
A good grade for all applications, Not less than 10-inch (250mm) clear on 16-inch (405mm) shingles, 11- inch (275mm) clear on 18-inch(455mm) shingles, and 16-inch (405mm) clear on 24-inch (610mm)shingles, Flat grain and limited sapwood are permitted in this grade.
No. 3 Black Label Shingles
A utility grade for economy applications and secondarybuildings. Not less than 5 1/2 -inch (140 mm) clear on 16-inch (405)mm and 18-inch (455mm) shingles, and1 10-inch (250mm) clear on 24-inch (610mm) shingles.
No.4 or Undercoursing
A utility grade for interior accent walls or for undercoursing ondouble-coursed wall applicalions.
No. 1 and No.2 Rebutted and Rejointed
The same specifications as No. 1 and No. 2 grade shingles butmachine-trimmed to obtain parallel edges with butts sawn at right angles. Used for applications where tightly fitting or parallel joints between shingles are desired. AIso available with smooth sanded face.
